HIKING - HORSE BACK

There are numerous trails in the Santa Fe National Forest & San Pedro Parks Wilderness just east of the Bed & Breakfast. You can ride & hike into the forest and wilderness directly from the B&B.

Please visit the USFS District Office here at the junction of 550 and County Rd 11 (South end of Cuba) for maps and details.

The Continental Divide trail passes through here and can be used for some very scenic day hikes. Access to the trail is at the Los Pinos Rd trailhead and off highway 197 to the south.

Access to Eureka Mesa Rd is just east of the B&B and a hike up the road leads to the mesa where there are lots of scenic overlooks.

Fall in the nearby mountains is a great time to visit!

HUNTING & FISHING

Some really big elk and deer are taken out of this part of the Santa Fe National Forest. There are multiple hunt season on the forest.

Rio Las Vacas, Clear Creek and Gregorio Lake are the fishing spots close by.

4-WHEELING, ATV's & FOREST ROAD TRAVEL

There are literally 100's of miles of backcountry roads in this part of the Santa Fe National Forest! However, a new Forest plan has been initiated that will close off many dirt roads in the forest, so make sure you look for and obey closure signs. Ask at the B&B for best access to Eureka Mesa Rd.

A very nice, scenic trip that can be taken in the family car is Forest Road 103 from its junction with highway 126 east of Cuba, over the mountain to highway 96 just south of Gallina. Return on 96 to 550 to Cuba.

The high desert to the west and SW of Cuba provides endless possibilities for exploring. Climbing Cabezon Peak (moderately difficult) is a challenge rewarded with sweeping, 360 degree views!
